The residency I’m thinking of is one where each artist is working through something important to them, and is at the same time open to experimenting and approaching their respective cherished matters in new ways. Because we have the opportunity to work together, I envision more or less daily (morning or afternoon depending on group tendencies) discussions of works and/or processes. I’m interested in how artists who are motivated by urgencies beyond the studio generate formal solutions to the questions they elaborate in research. Be open to a few exercises to shift our habitual frames (optional of course).
Applicants should submit the following:
1. a statement articulating what you care about and how you have enlivened these passions through art (.doc, .docx, .pdf)
2. a CV (.doc, .docx, .pdf)
3. up to 20 images of work expressing what engages you now (.jpg, .pdf no larger than 10 mb each)
– OR –
up to 10 images (.jpg, .pdf no larger than 10 mb each) and 10 minutes of video (provide links to video sharing web site, .doc, .docx)
